The ottoman empire was once the turkish empire which was arownd from1299 to 1922. Throught the years the ottoman empire expanded, controling moast of southeastern Europe, the middle east and North Africa. This land streched from the strait of Gibralter to the Caspian sea.The ottoman empire was once one of the moast powerful countries in the world.They began to call them selves the Universal Empire. They were like this for six centuries. But durring world war one the ottoman empire took sides with germany, because of a secreat treaty. The Germans didn’t do so well. So, when they lost,so did the ottoman empiredid too. As a result the ottomans lost all of there land exsept for what we today call turkey. 
Turkey is know a great place to live. It has its own traditions and great buildings without all that land.
